A modern day
renaissance man, Bobby Rock is an internationally-renowned performer and
music educator, a writer/author with several books to his credit, a producer,
a health and fitness specialist/consultant, and the CEO/Founder of Paranormal
Records, Zen Man Publishing and Rock-Solid Fitness.
After studies
at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston and a wide variety
of recording and touring opportunities, Bobby enjoyed a brief association
with the funk-rock pioneers, Rare Earth,
before settling into a three-year, two-album stint with ex-KISS guitarist's
Vinnie Vincent Invasion. From there, Bobby
began his longtime affiliation with Geffen recording artists, Nelson.
Their multi-platinum debut, After The Rain, yielded four Billboard
Top Ten hits and high-rotation videos, a sold-out world tour and numerous
television appearances.
Bobby has since been involved with a number of other projects, including
two discs with the instrumental rock fusion guitar duo Garsed
and Helmerich, and extensive recording and touring with fellow
chop monsters Neil Zaza, Bill
"The Buddha" Dickens, and guitar great Gary
Hoey. He is the author of five books, has two instructional videos
(including his critically acclaimed new release, The Zen of Drumming)
and produces both records and videos when not on tour.
Additionally, Bobby has maintained a rigorous concert/clinic tour schedule
for the past decade, both in support of his three solo releases and as
one of the industry's most active educators. In the past few years alone,
Bobby and his crew have traveled well over a quarter million on-the-ground
miles throughout the US and Canada, raising his tally of workshops and
drumming exhibitions to an unprecedented 800-plus. Bobby's efforts on
the educational front have been duly noted by his winning the coveted
"Clinician of the Year" category in Drum magazine's Annual Readers
Poll two times: 1998 and 2001.
A certified health specialist, vegan (one who follows a strict vegetarian
diet and avoids any animal-based clothing or consumer goods) and advocate
of drug-free living, Bobby is dedicated to his healthy lifestyle, which
also includes bodybuilding and meditation. He has a number of published
articles on the subject of health and wellness, and a cutting edge new
book entitled Muscles,
Mangos and Meditation, which details
his entire regimen.
The "Renaissance Man" resides in Los Angeles, although he's
rarely home...
