Fall '07 - Bobby's "Monster Drum Tracks" Goes Global! Technology Enables Bobby To Play on Even More Recordings...
Bobby and producer/engineer Martin Blasick have finally created a formal medium for the high-tech recording technology that they've been using through the years. Through Monster Drum Tracks, artists and labels will now be able to have Bobby perform live drum tracks for their music, via the Internet. This time-tested process involves Martin at the helm of Motion City Studios in Santa Monica, CA, making the magic happen with an extensive Pro Tools rig, a Secure Server, a speakerphone and, of course, Bobby's primary recording kit which is set up full time in the tracking room.
"We've been using this system successfully for several years now, working primarily with movie studio clients," Martin explains "I'll have Bobby drop a track here in LA and five minutes later, we're getting live feedback from an executive in New York. So now with this Monster Drum Tracks system, if someone from anywhere in the world wants Bobby to play on their tracks, this is the simplest, easiest and most cost-effective way to make it happen."

It was a meeting of the proverbial monsters in LA recently when Bobby and Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony joined forces with guitarist Neil Zaza for Neil's upcoming solo release.
"Michael has played on some of the most important records in rock history," Bobby explains, "so it was great to get in the studio with the guy and lay down some heavy grooves. Obviously, he plays his ass off, and I feel like we captured some real moments. Plus, we all had a blast working together, which is always a bonus."
The new Neil Zaza CD is tentatively scheduled for a Spring '06 release and will feature a number of other heavy-hitters. Stay tuned, kids...

At the official Rock-Solid Fitness web site, Bobby reveals the secrets of his his coveted eating regimen.
"Getting this book finished has been a top priority for me lately, so I've been logging in the hours at the laptop. Still, I'm always getting e-mails about 'Where is the book?' Believe me, I ask myself the same thing everyday! So, in the interim, I decided to post a few chapters on the site, just to hold everyone over."

Bobby's time-tested, yet cutting edge, eating philosophy is built around his "Six-S" Circle of Superior Nutrition, which takes you through six different stages of transition...at your own pace. On the site, Bobby gives you a quick overview of the philosophy, then at the bottom of the page, he offers a few very detailed "sneak preview" links where you can get an even better idea of how to integrate some of these concepts into your daily routine. Winter '05 - Bobby joins The Carnival!

...Carnival of Souls, that is! With a debut CD and two videos with Bobby already "in the can," Carnival of Souls (COS) is an aggressive new modern arena rock act that is set to converge on the international rock scene in the next few months.
"Although my involvement with COS has been very recent, I've actually known Gene (Hunter, the bassist) for a lot of years," Bobby says. "Everyone in the band is super cool and it's a tightly-run organization, so it's been a comfortable transition."
The New York-based COS has been tearing up clubs and theaters in the Tri-State area for the past few years and has amassed a fanatical following. They've also garnered critical recognition in magazines like Metal Edge and Hit Parader, and beat out nearly 4000 other entries to win Hit Parader's "Hottest Unsigned Band in the World" contest in '03.
"This band
represents all that I love about hard-hitting arena rock," Bobby says.
"Great songs, killer players, and an over-the-top stage show. These are
the things that led me to drumming in the first place! I look forward to a fun
year with the guys."

Fall '05 - Bobby's latest solo endeavor, "Bio-Tribe," set for west coast debut, recording...

What does an artist do who plays one of the world's largest drum sets, is into these crazy rock, funk and Latin-influenced grooves and sounds like a one-man percussion ensemble when he solos? If you're Bobby Rock, you join forces with a couple of world class percussionists, a super-funky bassist and a killer young rock guitarist! Enter: Bobby Rock's Bio-Tribe.
"Yeah, I know I already have a pretty full plate," Bobby explains, "but I've had this vision for quite some time and now is the time to start actualizing it. This is the musical culmination of a lot of the highly-rhythmic styles of music that I've always loved and the perfect vehicle for how I play when I'm on my full 'solo' kit. Best of all, this band is smokin'!"
The band, which features Mark Miller on guitar, The Bass Cowboy, Mark Meadows on bass, Roland Garcia on Latin percussion and Matt Emery on Asian percussion, is currently in preproduction in LA, working on tracks for a recording later in '05. The band also plans to play live when schedules allow. Their next show is slated for February 19th at Lestat's in San Diego.

Fall '03 - New Gary Hoey CD and first single hit in October

"Wake Up Call" is the name of the new Gary Hoey CD and a remake of Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein" is the first single. Slated for an October 21st release through Surf Dog/Warner Brothers, the disc documents the sound of this explosive trio (Bobby, along with Hoey on guitar and Jamie Carter on bass) and their nearly four years of working together.
"We wound up doing about half instrumental tracks and half vocal tunes, so it's a nice cross-section of material. The guitars are monstrous, and I feel like the essence of the band was captured pretty well. In fact, all the basic tracks were done with the three of us going live to tape, so the record really has a great feel."
When asked about the band remaking that certain classic rock tune of which Bobby's very familiar, he says, "Can you believe we covered 'Frankenstein' on this one? This is a tune that I guess I'm not destined to escape. But Hoey really wanted to do it and felt like we could give it an interesting twist. Sure enough, it sounds very contemporary."
Look for Bobby on the road with Gary this Fall as the band sets out to promote the new release. Check tour dates for an updated schedule.
Fall '03 - "Funk Bass and Beyond," the long-awaited Warner Brothers co-write between Bobby and "The Buddha," goes to press

Available through Warner Brothers. Check out the Intro to the book in Writing World.
Summer '03 - Bobby is back on the road this summer as a "surprise" guest with Slaughter on the Rock Never Stops tour

(Bobby and Mark Slaughter at the Marcus Amphitheater in Milwaukee)
Bobby is currently on the road with Slaughter as part of the VH-1 sponsored Rock Never Stops tour with Whitesnake, Warrant, and Kip Winger.
"This has been like stepping into a time warp," Bobby says in response to his recent reunion with ex-Vinnie Vincent Invasion bandmates, Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum of Slaughter.
The call for this came in at the last minute when longtime Slaughter drummer, Blas Elias, was unable to make this summer run with the band due to a prior commitment he had as drummer/percussionist with Blue Man Group (a critically-acclaimed show in Vegas). "Sometimes, it's all about syncronicity. It had been 15 years since we toured together, and now that the VVI discs have been re-released - boom - this opportunity came up. The timing was trippy. Nonetheless, this has just been meant to be. We're having a blast out here, I'm enjoying the band and the music, and, of course, I always love playing the arenas and amphitheaters. It's a whole different kind of energy in these bigger venues."
Be sure to check out the tour dates section of the site for the continuously updated schedule.
Summer '03 - Vinnie Vincent Invasion recordings rereleased/remastered through Capitol Records
Invasion fans rejoice! Both Vinnie Vincent Invasion records (the self-titled debut and "All Systems Go") have just been rereleased in remastered form on Capitol Records. The late-80's glam metal band was Bobby's first high-visibility project and remains a decent representation of that hard-hitting, arena rock style of drumming that first brought BR to international renown. Both CDs are available through many Internet and retail outlets.
