It’s been a pleasure connecting with you guys here throughout the year and, once again, I appreciate you all cracking open these emails when you can and scoping the latest. Much more to come in 2022!
My lone Holiday viewing recommendation this year is this:
I don’t use the description "musical genius" very often but, for me, if anyone is entitled to such a title, it is my long-time bro (and former Berklee College of Music roommate) Rob Mathes. He is a renowned arranger and orchestrator (credits list is ridiculous!) and a gifted singer, guitarist, and pianist with an impressive catalog of solo records. He also has a profound connection to the Christmas season and has put on a sold-out Christmas concert in the Greenwich, Connecticut area, every year for the past 27 years.
This year’s concert did not have a live audience, but was filmed as if it did. The band always includes some of the best musicians around, and some of the more compelling arrangements of Christmas classics you will likely hear—along with some of Rob's own “classic” Christmas tunes. If you want to hear a master of their craft—and a unique slant on our beloved holiday music—tune in.
